A really good service. I required some light fittings to be changed and MJP did this in a quick, efficient and relatively cheap manner. The electrician that came out was very helpful … More and made the process as straightforward as he could. Definitely recommend!

I’m always a bit nervous when choosing a company to do work on our house but there was no need to be with MJP Electrical Services, I just can’t fault them on anything. We had a new … More Consumer Unit installed to replace our old fuse box and had our kitchen down lights replaced too as the existing ones were not to current standard and one or two other minor fixes.Daniel & Drew arrived dead on time, they were very courteous and kept us up to date with the work they were doing during the day and cleaned up when they finished.I will definitely use them again for any other electrical work and recommend them to friends & family.

Very impressive service from MJP. We had an unexpected water leak that knocked out our electrics and made a call to MJP who offered an electrician for later that evening or next day … More (Sat), for an out-of-hours fee or alternatively a cheaper mid-week fee, we accepted the former out of desperation. From the immediate confirmation email to the helpful courtesy text message sent prior to arrival of our electrician, this felt like a very professional service from the outset. The service itself was excellent and given by a competent and efficient electrician (David); all was checked with great care and made safe including a waterlogged light fixture change. Overall, my wife and I were very pleased with this service and will be back to MJP when we need any electrical work!

Thanks ChrisAs a couple in South Wales we can barely switch out a light switch between us. When our bathroom extractor fan broke we needed to find someone to get it sorted quickly. … More Turns out our consumer unit was rather out of date and, as we are thinking of selling in a few years, thought we would get that replaced too.We sought multiple quotes. MJP was the cheapest by far. Chris came over and looked at the work that needed doing, clearly explained our options/solutions and what they all meant. We are grateful that he was able to explain it in terms we understood. After considering the quotes and the attitude of those coming around to provide the quotes, we opted for MJP.Chris was due to arrive at 8, we had a text from him at 7:40 to let us know he would be arriving soon. He was on time and just as friendly and professional as when he was providing the quote and trying to secure our business.Throughout the several hours Chris was in our house, he was friendly, kept us informed of progress, explained the work he was doing and what it meant. He then walked through the work he had completed before leaving our property and checked if there was anything else he could do for us before leaving.Chris is an asset to the business and is an ambassador for great quality electrical work/customer satisfaction.MJP - we don't know how much Chris earns, but he deserves a raise! Fantastic ambassador for your company. We will be happy to recommend him and MJP to anyone and everyone we speak to!

Needed some remedial work doing when moving into our new house. MJP were easy to contact, super helpful and very upfront with the costs. They came and fitted our new consumer unit and … More arrived at the time they said they would. After completing all of the work they found a sight problem with a light the was proving complicated to fix. They went out of their way to stay a lot longer than planned to get this fixed and we couldn’t be more thankful for their professionalism on our job.Fantastic work to a fantastic standard. We will certainly use again when we need more electrical work completing.

Excellent service. MJP Electrical Services LTD completed an electrical check and returned two days later to fit a garden light. On both occasions, the electricians (Greig/Chris) were … More polite, friendly and efficient. Text/email updates kept me informed with appointment and expected arrival times and Ashley was very helpful in assisting with booking. A positive experience- thank you!

Frequently asked questions
Let us answer your important questions
A: If a property hasn’t been rewired in the last 25-30 years, it will probably need upgrading, whether partially or fully, to ensure it complies with current safety standards. Given the sheer volume of electrical devices used in modern households compared to the 1980s and 90s, the existing wiring might be under strain from a high level of electricity usage, and could potentially be dangerous.
A full or partial rewire might also be required if you’re planning major renovation work that would be defined as a ‘material alteration’ by the Building Regulations. This will usually include an upgrade of the fuse board. In the case of room extensions and attic or garage conversions, any new wiring will need to comply with Part P (Electrical Safety) of the Building Regulations, and existing wiring in those rooms will also need to be improved to ensure it can safely carry additional loads; is earthed according to current requirements; and has satisfactory cross bonding. If you’re remodelling or extending, the wiring in the rest of your property won’t need upgrading unless required by the Building Regulations’ energy efficient requirements, e.g. central heating controls.
A: As an NICEIC Approved Contractor, you can rest assured that all work will be carried out with minimal disruption and in accordance with all relevant regulations and safety standards. Here’s a summary of what we do when rewiring a home:
- Fully assess the work required and provide you with a full quotation before we start.
- Check the existing connection to make sure it meets the correct legal requirements.
- Carry out the rewire, ensuring that we perform a full electrical safety test on all wiring.
- Test that the circuit and fuse board are functioning as they should.
- Check all sockets and power outputs to ensure they conform to current building regulations.
- Provide a copy of a rewiring certificate for electrical installation, detailing all the work required to make your property safe.
Our electricians treat every customer’s property like their own, using shoe protectors and dust mats where necessary, and always cleaning up once a job is complete.
A: Many UK homes have old electrical wiring and getting your home rewired is a great way of adding value and ensuring safe and reliable operation. Electrical rewiring costs will vary depending on some factors including:
- The size of your house (naturally a three bedroom house will cost more than a one bedroom flat).
- Whether the home is occupied during the rewiring (electricians will work faster in an empty property).
- The specification of fittings and fixtures you choose (stainless steel versus white PVC sockets etc.).
- The number of socket outlets etc. and other extras such as security lighting or outside power points.
- Where you live in the UK because of regional variances in contractor costs across the country.
A: We have been rewiring homes for a long time so we have got the process off to a tee we can rewire homes in as little as 2-3 days depending on specification and size of the property. Typically it takes:
1 Bedroom 4-7 days
2 Bedrooms 5-8 days
3 Bedrooms 6-10 days
4 Bedrooms 1-2 weeks
5 Bedrooms 10-15 days
- System in excess of 30 years.
- Old fusebox
- Old accessories
- Frequently Tripping fuses
- “Green slime” oxidation of cables
- Sockets mounted on skirting boards
- Black rubber cables
